  • Advanced Textbooks and the JLPT★上級教科書と日本語能力試験

Posted by admin on December 28th, 2009 and filed under used books | 25 Comments »

A quick video about the books that I used to study Japanese up to the 2kyuu level. Since I can’t pass Level 1 yet, I decided it would make more sense to show the books that I USED for 2kyuu rather than the books I am USING for 1kyuu.

Nihongo Sou Matome Mondaishuu 2kyuu, 1200en per book.

    http://www.amazon.co.jp/日本語総まとめ問題集-2級文法編-佐々木-仁子/dp/4872176154

-I forgot to mention that this series includes English translations, so it’s a lot easier for people who are currently around the 3kyuu level.

New Approach ChuuKyuu Nihongo Series, 3700en for both books.

-No English Instruction available, so perhaps this is more suitable to those who are a little more advanced.

Good Luck! Who will I see at the Kyushu test site? ;)

JLPT is wierd. Difficulty varies. Like, the2005 kanji section was my best mark so far on the practice tests (91%) but then on the 2008 one I only got 68% on the kanji, so it varies. I am pretty good at the grammar, medium at the listening and I am throwing the reading out the window so to say. I have passed these previous years 2 kyuu tests with just getting a good mark on the kanji (80%), listening (65%), grammar (85%) and then just make a column of 3s for the reading. Then pass with about 65%

I’ll be taking 4-kyuu this December. I’m really scared. I don’t think I’m in any way prepared for it, because I haven’t followed any formal outline in learning the rudiments of Japanese. I tried taking past exams (without the listening part) and I’m ok with them so far.
I’ll be taking the JLPT because I want to work in Japan someday, hopefully in PR or international relations. ^^ just dreaming big!

I admire your enthusiasm and optimism in giving 2-kyuu another try! Go for it!

gonna take the 2級 too this december, although I’ve only been using the Kanzen Master series; everyone’s praising the soumatome so I’m a little bit worried if I can do it.
I took the new N2 a week ago as a mogishiken, which gave me a little bit of confidence.. dunno, I hope it’ll work.
As for the reason: When I get back from my exchange year and have the cert., I can skip 2 years of the Japanese school I’m attending; aiming to get 1級 before I graduate from high school
      Good luck! :D

I’m taking 2Q in Dec. I passed 3Q with an 86% in 2006. I’m taking the 2Q because I get a Y20,000 bonus for passing it. It also looks good on a resume while in Japan.
BTW, the 日本語総まとめ問題集2級「語彙編」 is pretty good, but didn’t you find that there were a lot of English mistranslations?

just to let you know, nintendo of america along with many other companies that require translators say in their requirements that you need a bachelors degree in related arts and 1級 level in japanese! =]

      You should be able …
You should be able to pass 2級 after studying the two new approach books, but if you are great at kanji, you might pass after the first one even. (the blue one you have) Actually, most of the people I know who finished the second new approach book passed 1級 this year. Oh, and if you don’t like the blue one, you will like the second (red) one even less. Anyway, I was wondering, do you have any good tips for books after new approach? I’m finished with both and are looking for my next “fix”.
