You might also like Mary Roberts Rinehart and Mary Stewart. They are both from "back in the day," but you sound like you're quite intelligent and would enjoy them. See whether you can get Airs Above the Ground by Mary Stewart. It's an awesome book! Neither one is pervy or creepy at all. Suspenseful, yes. Enjoy! Thanks for this question and thanks to the others who answered. There were some great ideas. I do think that Nancy Drew might be too young for you. I know she was 16 or so, but I think girls grow out of Nancy at a younger age. ^,^

I personally enjoyed "The Westing Game" by Ellen Raskin. I read it back in sixth grade and from what I remember it was really good. Also, though his stories are a little weird, may I suggest Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories! I am in 9th grade and we read one of his stories this year and I loved it!

Absolutely anything by Agatha Christie. I happen to really like Murder at the Vicarage, At Bertram's Hotel, Murder on the Orient Express and Body in the Library the best. And Then There Were None was really awesome too. They're quick, easy reads, but they really keep you guessing. She fools me EVERY time!

First, you can check at your public library. You can ask the librarian to show you where all the mystery books are.

Here’s my suggestion of a book to read. I don’t think think this is really a mystery book but I think it’s a fun series to read. It’s "Harry Potter". Try to read one of the books and if you like the first one, then you can continue to read all seven!

Have you tried Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys books? I think they are probably ideal for you at this age if they have been modernized. I also think that one of the other answerers had a good idea with Agatha Christy.
