It seems intuitive, but I am just wondering whether this is the case. I typically buy books used, and try not to buy in hardcover whenever possible. Mainly, I do this for monetary reasons (paperbacks are cheaper) but I am wondering to what extent they are actually more environmentally friendly. Please note I am not looking for you to preach about E-books. I am asking about paperbacks vs. hardcovers.

Technically speaking, paper backs are less environmentally friendly. They require more pages (due to smaller print), and use the same chemicals to produce the ink/paper as hard covers. Many hardcover novels use recycled materials for the covers and usually have fewer pages because the print is larger (since the pages are larger). Otherwise, they both use paper and chemicals and are therefore equally hazardous in that sense.

Like when I read a paperback book it always seems to end up getting creases on the spine. How do I prevent this from happening?

I hate it when I get creases in the spines of my books too! I’ve learned a way in which to read them so this doesn’t happen. When you open the book, instead of bending it right back so that the pages are laying side-by-side with one another, just open it to a certain angle so that the opposite facing pages are near to touching, but not enough so that the book is closed or that you can’t read the book. This way there will be no creases in the book and you’ll be able to read it too. Mission accomplished!

Amazon.com. Shipping is about 3.99 per book, so it can add up if you buy it from retailers. If you use Amazon as the retailer then shipping is free for orders over $25. I’ve bought some really cheap new books. I don’t buy used books from there, but I know sometimes the used books will be more than the new books.

I’m in 9th grade right now, and I am very intrigued by mythical creatures and fantasy type of fiction books, as I’m catching up on the Percy Jackson and Vampire’s Assistant books at the moment. Could anyone recomend a storyline that is atleast 2 or more books as in the main first one, then a certain amount of sequels to that story.

I’ll divide my choices by author

Cassandra Clare (I’m very much in love with this author’s work *woo-hoo*)
-The Mortal Instruments series
City of Bones
City of Ashes
City of Glass
City of Fallen Angels
City of Lost Soul
City of Heavenly Fire
-The Infernal Devices series
Clockwork Angel
Clockwork Prince
Clockwork Princess

Melissa Marr (The most poetic author I’ve ever read. Trust me, she weave her work to be beautiful without being too hard to read)
-The Wicked Lovely series
Wicked Lovely
Ink Exchange
Fragile Eternity
Radiant Shadow
Darkest Mercy

Rachelle Mead (Her story is so interesting I finish the whole series in 4 days. And it’s not twilight vampire kind. People who enjoy Twilight will enjoy this, and the good thing is that people who didn’t enjoy Twilight will enjoy her series.)
-The Vampire Academy series
Vampire Academy
Frostbite
Shadow Kiss
Blood Promise
Spirit Bound
Last Sacrifice

Suzanne Collins (I don’t know what to say about this author. Her work is just pure amazing. All of this and that idea mixing and becoming this extraordinaire masterpiece of her *weeee*)
-The Hunger Games series
The Hunger Games
Catching Fire
Mockingjay

have you heard of "Fireproof" or "the love challenge?" Those are both excellent tools/movies/books to get you through these times. One of the most amazing things about "the love challenge" is that is asks for each couple to find something nice to say or do for the other EVERY single day. It forces you not to focus on the negative but to put the light back on the good. It also reminds you that God must be in your marriage if you want it to survive and sustain. Check with Nest Entertainment, they have a bunch of wonderful books.
