Are paperback books for environmentally friendly than hard covers?

It seems intuitive, but I am just wondering whether this is the case. I typically buy books used, and try not to buy in hardcover whenever possible. Mainly, I do this for monetary reasons (paperbacks are cheaper) but I am wondering to what extent they are actually more environmentally friendly. Please note I am not looking for you to preach about E-books. I am asking about paperbacks vs. hardcovers.

Technically speaking, paper backs are less environmentally friendly. They require more pages (due to smaller print), and use the same chemicals to produce the ink/paper as hard covers. Many hardcover novels use recycled materials for the covers and usually have fewer pages because the print is larger (since the pages are larger). Otherwise, they both use paper and chemicals and are therefore equally hazardous in that sense.

How do i prevent spine creases on paperback books?

Like when I read a paperback book it always seems to end up getting creases on the spine. How do I prevent this from happening?

I hate it when I get creases in the spines of my books too! I’ve learned a way in which to read them so this doesn’t happen. When you open the book, instead of bending it right back so that the pages are laying side-by-side with one another, just open it to a certain angle so that the opposite facing pages are near to touching, but not enough so that the book is closed or that you can’t read the book. This way there will be no creases in the book and you’ll be able to read it too. Mission accomplished!

What good fiction or realistic fiction books are good for 6th graders to read.?

I am applying for a 6th grade camp councilor and I need a list of 6th grade books for them to read. I like if they are realistic fiction or fiction books. Nothing scary like vampires, etc.,….. Fun to read. Maybe not too easy and not too inappropriate for them to read either. Thanks!

What is good science fiction books for starting with?

What are good science fiction books to read for someone who want to start reading them so nothing that complicated so more character based than hard science thanks in advance.

Cory Doctorow wrote Little Brother. It is not hard science. It is free since he believes in Creative Commons.

Baen Books allows some of their older books free.

What is a good website for buying new or used books cheap?

I want to find good books that have been released in the last 3 years or so for $7 or less. And if there’s a shipping price it should be low too. I don’t care if the books are new or used. I don’t want text books either.

Amazon.com. Shipping is about 3.99 per book, so it can add up if you buy it from retailers. If you use Amazon as the retailer then shipping is free for orders over $25. I’ve bought some really cheap new books. I don’t buy used books from there, but I know sometimes the used books will be more than the new books.

I’m in 9th grade right now, and I am very intrigued by mythical creatures and fantasy type of fiction books, as I’m catching up on the Percy Jackson and Vampire’s Assistant books at the moment. Could anyone recomend a storyline that is atleast 2 or more books as in the main first one, then a certain amount of sequels to that story.

I’ve been married for 5 years. when we first got married sex was good and frequent. now, its once every month or two and it sucks. im looking for anything that will help but it must have Christian influence books for me,her or both of us… ANYTHING!

have you heard of "Fireproof" or "the love challenge?" Those are both excellent tools/movies/books to get you through these times.
