One of my favorite Christian authors is Max Lucado. He puts thing in everyday terms that are easy to understand. Any of his book would be good supplements. Also Joyce Meyer and Tim LaHaye.

A really good Christian book to read is the Bible. But a book that other people wrote, is the series of Left Behind.

since I got one thumb down- I thought I would tell you why I like it…
it is about someones spiritual journey through the life of a boy who sustained brain injury in a car accident. it is a story of transformation. it is a great read – especially if you have been through a tramatic situation and didn’t know where to turn.

anything by C.S.Lewis, Shelby Spong or Tom Harper.
-Hey! what’s with the thumbs down! I offered 3 well respected but very different Christian writers. What is wrong with people reading a wide range of opinions to decide for themselves?
Some people are so close minded! I think you must be VERY arrogant to feel you have the one and only answer!

Years ago I asked my pastor the same question you are asking now, almost word for word.
He told me then that to make a list of good books to read would take to much paper and to much time.
He did give me a list of authors though. I long ago lost the list, but remember most of them on it. I will give you a few.
Watchman Nee, A.W. Pink, F.B Meyer, Andrew Murray, John Calvin, and A.W. Tozer. The list he gave me had about 20 names on it. I will repeat one other thing he told me about the list, If you read everything you can find by these men, you will not have any trouble knowing others within the first few pages of their books.
There are many others that are good, but the list would be to long for here. I would advise you start with Nee, Murray, and Tozer. The others are much deeper and you need a good foundation first.
Good luck and God Bless

The book, "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" is an excellent Bible study aid. It takes Bible subjects by topic, presenting the scriptures on each topic to reason on, is written in very easy-to-follow language with beautiful illustrations, and contains three or four questions at the beginning of each chapter for you to think about as you study that chapter, and a box at the end containing the scriptural links to the answers to those questions, so you can retain what you learn much more easily.
Some of the questions/topics addressed in that book are:
What is the Truth About God?
What is God’s Purpose for the Earth?
Who is Jesus Christ?
The Ransom – God’s Greatest Gift
Where Are the Dead?
Real Hope for Your Loved Ones Who Have Died
What is God’s Kingdom?
Are We Living in the Last Days?
Spirit Creatures – How They Affect Us
Why Does God Allow Suffering?
Living in a Way That Pleases God
How to Make Your Family Life Happy
Draw Close to God in Prayer
Baptism and Your Relationship With God
Remain in God’s Love
You can find out more about that book and others available by going to http://www.watchtower.org/e/publications/index.htm. You may obtain it by contacting your local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses or writing to one of the branch offices you can find out more about on that website. There is never any charge for our literature (although voluntary donations to our worldwide teaching work are always accepted) – we leave our literature with anyone who is truly interested in reading it.
It is important to note that scriptures are always cited, in addition to often being quoted, in our publications, so that anyone can look up the scriptures in their own copy of the Bible/compare translations, etc., and make sure of what is stated in the publication. (Acts 17:11)

I recommend anything by Max Lucado. His words are inspirational. A deeper walk with God is achieved with more than just Bible knowledge. It helps to have personal encouragement ‘through the pages of the lives’ of other believers.
