What is The Atheist Experience?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

@graza16
The beauty of this world is enough for us. Why do YOU need to believe in an afterlife? Ah, but you gave an answer already. You believe because it scares you. Believe out of fear. This is very common among religious people. And that’s exactly the clerics and other religious leaders feed on.

I looked up both of …
I looked up both of those, and no place was it mentioned that they were born of a virgin. Also, Dionisys did have “identity issues with his father.” However, he was fighting with his father about the subject. Jesus accepted that he was the Son of God, as well as a part of the Trinity. And when I said sources, I meant credible ones that reference ancient documents that were written before Jesus was alive.

Years ago on the front of my newspaper . I read that a conference of biblical scholars voted with colored beads and concluded less than 20% of Jesus’s words are his.Can anyone back that up ?

Check Dionisys I …
Check Dionisys I think is the spelling. Or Osiris from egyptian mythology.
If you want it really spelled out for you watch the movie “The God delusion”. They give you some 20 names you can all go check from previous religions, that were “born of a virgin” “had identity issues with their father” “died and resurrected 3 days later.
Also the bibles buried secrets will tell you how the old testament showed up. GL

Sources please? …
Sources please? I’ve been searching for about a year now, and I still haven’t heard sufficient evidence supporting the copycat myth.

That’s a load of …
That’s a load of crap if I ever heard it. There’s more than adequate evidence that all of the gospels were finished by the year 70 A.D. The Zeitgeist myth is also a load of crap. There is no historical evidence of any of these “messiah figures” prior to the existence of Jesus. So basically, the Zeitgeist is actually a copycat myth that claims to be first.

@graza16 “it it is quite frighting.”
Well, if you sit and worry about it all day it Sure could be I suppose. However, it doesn’t really worry me. Lifes an amazing thing, godless or not. Finding a way to be happy is what matters. DEath is just one step in the cycle of biology, finding things that give us a happy life will make it easier to accept the inevitable. WE are experiencing a wonderous thing, However, biology is a cycle.

Answer 2 5:32
He he, y would they have written the gospels while he was alive? It was the fact that He rose from the dead, and the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles and continued His work that led them to be written.

@graza16 Being Atheist doesnt stop someone from hoping to survive their own death.
Personally I plan on living forever.
Were you scared before you were conceived? Thats where you are going back to.
It also drives me to make the very most of every single breath of my life.

Yes, Jesus most …
Yes, Jesus most likely was very real.
His miracles are almost excactly like those of some 20 other “savior” types from other religions, incl. the resurrection 3 days later.
If he had truly been the son of God he should have come up with something more original than what he did so it would actually be distinguishable from those religions.

Although i’m an atheist, i’d be inclined to think Jesus actually existed. I mean, doesn’t every cult start with a single leader?
I may well be wrong though; haven’t studied the material extensively.

I recall at least two debates that Matt has had with callers that are extensive: kabanethechristian and a member of CARM. He put this caller on hold because he continued to talk when it was Matt’s turn.

Sure is easy to win a so called “debate” when you have a mute button in hand. I guess if you don’t have Jesus on your side you will use all the help you can get.
