best book you can give any one..
    enough said..
beware of books, which are at least 100 years old! they are mostly false teachers and deceivers..
    name a few..

they teach that God is a pretty god, and will give only the best and you will be surrounded by pretty flowers, and magical candylands..

Do you know of any good christian books that explain death to children?

I have two little boys. 4yo and 3yo. Their Grandad passed away on Wednesday my 3yo doesn’t really understand but my 4yo is having trouble understanding heaven and death etc, just wondering if any body knows of a good Christian book for this age group explaining everything?

Nana Upstairs & Nana Downstairs by Tommie dePaola

The book itself is a way to introduce children to death. The boy in the story is 4 years old as well. The only thing is it deals with the death of a great grandmother but, the principle is there.

All of his stories are great for kids and, usually have some sort of life lesson.

I really like Jeremy Driscoll’s work and "Everything Is Grace", a bio of St. Therese by Fr. Joseph Schmidt.

Almost no Christians have read the Bible, an interesting irony given that it is purported to be the source of their religion.

When you do read the Bible, its like entering a mad house. The books of Moses are a bloodbath from beginning to end. The God of Moses appears to be a volcano, and worships in an orgy of blood and dismembered animals.

Then you get on to Jesus, and things really dont improve much. Jesus states that all the old laws about burning witches etc, given to Moses by God still stand, and Jesus spends most of his time healing the sick, casting out demons and preaching. The irony being that even after he gives his disciples magic powers to cast out demons, many of them still doubt that he is the son of God.

Anyway, this video just cuts out one short segment of the Bible, about witches, wizards and demons. All form part of the narrative of Jesus and God in the Bible. Remove these, and you rip out the credibility of the book on its big claims about Gods, and Sons of Gods and you reduce the Bible to merely a story book.

It is my reckoning that people can identify Harry Potter as a work of fiction. Why then should people struggle so much in identifying the Bible as a work of fiction?

What are your favorite Christian classic books?

Posted by admin on July 1st, 2010 and filed under christian books | 17 Comments »

I’m interested in reading christian classics. I’m interested in reading some Christian books from the past, not current day.

One of the best books that I have read is "The Bondage of The Will" by Martin Luther – Translated by J.I. Packer & O.R. Johnston. The almost 60 pages of historical and theological introduction by Packer and Johnston are really helpful.
