  • Dewey Readmore Books – Cats of Iowa

Posted by admin on May 11th, 2010 and filed under books | 25 Comments »

This is Dewey Readmore Books, now well known as the cat in the New York Times best-selling book of the same name. Dewey was abandoned in the Spencer Library’s book return, and became known far and wide as the Spencer Library cat.

This video also profiles Conrad, Iowa’s town cat, Tom, also well-loved by the entire town after being rescued.

This “Living in Iowa” archived video originally aired in April of 1998 on Iowa Public Television. For more recent videos visit Iowa Public Television http://www.iptv.org/.

This, as other videos show, demonstrates cats can be the most lovable, affectionate pets on earth. I really can’t stand stories of animal abuse, especially sweet things like cats. We have a responsibility to treat all our pets with love, kindness, and respect. Remember to get your pets fixed, too. There are way too many strays living in misery because of uncontrolled breeding.
