  • What are some really good books for young adults?

Posted by admin on August 4th, 2011 and filed under books | 3 Comments »

I want a really interesting book. Similar books like Sarah Dessens, Mitchel Albom, Nicholas Sparks, Jodi Picoult, etc. NOT the twilight Saga or anything similar to that.
Non-fiction or fiction books please that are really good..
No fantasy book or series please.

    Thank you!

Here are some links to book lists at goodreads.com. There are a lot more lists on the site. And you might want to leave young adult and look over the adult offerings.

Goodreads.com is a free website with thousands of books lists. You see the cover of the book and get a link to the book description. The lists are created by contributors who rate and review the books so you get a lot of input sometimes by hundreds of people.

At this site, for instance, you can pick science fiction and then get more specific lists like books that deal with time travel or aliens or robots. The main address is

paste the link I gave you above into your browser
click the explore tab (you don’t have to log in to use the site)
scroll down a bit to the genre tags and select what appeals to you
This site includes lists for children, young adults, adults, sci fi fiends, romance junkies, etc.

When you have time, just noodle around the website. There are three different types of search boxes and they don’t all show up on a page depending where you are. Book mark lists you like so you can find them later.

They have young adult selections but the grown up stuff will probably suit you also.

You can try the following books also:
    The Pearl by John Steinbeck
    Cannery Row by John Steinbeck
    Animal Farm by George Orwell
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

What book writing software do you use to write your books with?

I like to write books but i would like to start writing them in a real software. What do you use?

If you already have Microsoft Word, that will serve your needs. If you don’t, there’s no need to pay for it. There are plenty of good free alternatives. I use OpenOffice (free download from www.openoffice.org).

I wouldn’t bother with any of the programs that claim to help you write a novel. They tend to assume there’s One True Way to write a novel – fine if that fits with how you write, but frustrating if it doesn’t.
