Can anyone recommend any good Christian books about having a child with severe birth defects?

My step sister is at an all time low and needs some encouragement. Her baby was born with severe birth defects, blindness, seizures, can’t move her limbs, and has had to undergo many surgeries. Poor thing. Her mom is hurting very badly and hitting an all time low as she has to watch her baby suffer so much. Can anyone recommend any good books that would offer her some hope and encouragement?

I think that you should call a christian book store or go to one. Sometimes when you go, the book will find you.

What are some good ways to take the binding or spine off of paperback books?

Posted by admin on November 21st, 2010 and filed under paperback books | 2 Comments »

I have several paper back activity books for the kids to do but I want to put the pages in a 3 ring binder so I can take pages out to make copies easily. Does anyone know any good clean ways to do this with out ruining any pages of the book? I heard about putting it in the microwave, but I don’t know if it would work or not. I may try the microwave technique with a book from goodwill or something but are there any more good techniques?

First make sure that the pages don’t have the perforations for tearing out — most workbooks do these days. Then carefully use a boxcutter knife and slit the pages as close to the binding as you can. Also, since you are deconstructing the book, open it as far as you can, and the glue may
split and release some pages. After a few come out the rest are easier to get.

where can I listen to Nora Roberts books online for free and without having to download or use a MP3?

Posted by admin on November 13th, 2010 and filed under books online | 1 Comment »

I would like to just listen to Nora Roberts books online while I work. But you either have to download or have a MP3 player. Is there any link I can go to just to listen?

Ok, Nora Roberts books are copyrighted and there should be no way to listen for free. However, you can check out the audio books from your local library and listen to them at work.

Any site that offers a FREE copy of a copyrighted book is actually giving you a nasty. Sometimes you get it with the book, but most often you just get the nasty and no book. My own books have been offered by a site located in Estonia, but they didn’t actually have my books. They just had the titles and artwork.

Would it be legal to talk about books online?

Would it be legal to talk about books online?
I am thinking of starting a blog that criticizes books. I have read the Langdon’s trilogy (Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, etc), and I am planning on criticizing it and more. I want it to be like Ebert & Roeper. Is it legal?

I might accidentally give away the plot. I don’t want to be sued. Is it better if I do it with the books that their copyright is ended?

So long as you do not impugn the author personally, you can critique their books. You can discuss the endings, although you may want to CLEARLY notify readers with "Spoiler Alert," if you are going to give away an ending, so that those who have not read the book have the choice to stop reading further.

It is better if you can discuss the writing style without giving away the plot as much as possible.
I suggest you read some book reviews to become familiar with how book critiques do this for a living, before criticizing a book and giving away the plot. You will garner far more readers that way.

    Best of success to you!
