Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under childrens books | 1 Comment »

what was the series of childrens books that included a little girl that narrated but she was horrible at grammar and spelling? She usually talked about her day at school and riding on the bus, but the grammar in the book was always wrong as if the girl were really talking?

    Does anyone remember this?

She started writing them in the early 90’s, most recent one was published last year.

How much is a good price for an out of print books publishing rights?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under publishing books | 1 Comment »

I wish to make an offer to buy the publishing rights for a book, that was printed in 67′ (one edition) and never printed again. The author is passed on, what would be a fair price to offer the family. I preffer to buy it than work with royalties. Anyone know how I can find contacts for the authors family? Thanks in advance

If you like it then price is their, and if you do not like it you just do not want it even free of cost.

Can you recommend me any good books from new authors?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under new books | 6 Comments »

I want to try and read books from new authors. Any suggestions? Preferably young adult books.
    & Teenage ones of course!
I’m 15 and Stephenie Meyer is not a new author and I don’t like her books.

I just typed this for another girl asking about young adult novels so here you go.

Have you read any by Sarah Dessen? She’s amazing.

The Georgia Nicholson series is hilarious and easy to read.
The Spy books by Ally Carter (I forget the title of the first one).
    Any Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies.
Thirteen Reasons Why – Jay Asher
    Sweethearts – Sara Zarr
    Lucky – Rachel Vail
    Guyaholic – Carolyn Mackler
The Other Half of Me – Emily Franklin
    Suite Scarlett – Maureen Johnson
    Peeled – Joan Bauer
How Not to be Popular – Jennifer Ziegler
The Book of Luke – Jenny O’Connell

I have a huge list (over 200) of good young adult books. Message me if you’d like the whole list :)

Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine (anything by this author)

The Year of Secret Assignments, by Jaclyn Moriarty

The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold

    Torn Thread, by Anne Isaacs

North by Night, by Katherine Ayres

I was wondering what are some good Christian books that I can read to supplement my bible studies?

The following Bible-based BOOKS are *excellent!:

    Pay Attention to Daniel’s Prophecy!
    http://watchtower.org/e/publications/index.htm
(This site gives a brief description of each bk listed.)

(This AUDIO site shows the chapter & appendix titles.)

Several of those^ books are on both of those sites, along with others I didn’t list.

There are also several articles on-line that you might want to read, listed here:

The Bible, & its Viewpoints regarding various subjects

    – Is the “Old Testament” Still Relevant?
    – It Was “Written for Our Instruction”

I have several college books to sell. What is the easiest way to sell them online?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under books online | 4 Comments »

I took a couple classes online, through AIU (and I would not suggest it) and now I have several marketing books that are in good condition. I have bought off e-bay, but never sold. Is there an easier way to sell books online? If not, could someone please explain how e-bay works(selling) I really appreciate it. I know I could probably figure it out, but I don’t have the patience.
    Thanks for the help

I would try half.com (free to list) and amazon.com (free to list). They are a lot more user friendly. I would also try craigslist.com, or thefacebook.com which are popular sites for students to search for books!

What are some great fiction books to read?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under fiction books | 20 Comments »

I am bored out of my mind right now, and I have read like, all of the books at my library, so I need some suggestions! I really love Harry Potter, so I need something like that. I like fiction books, mainly about magic and adventure. Please help me!

Try the "Fablehaven" series by Brandon Mull. It’s about 13yo Kendra and 11yo Seth, whose grandparents run a haven for magical creatures. The first book is called, "Fablehaven". Lots of adventure and magic. There are 3 others after that and another coming out in 2010.

The "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series by Rick Riordan is also really amazing. It’s based on Greek mythology but set in the present day, and it starts with a 12-year old boy discovering he’s a demi-god, son of Poseidon. The first in the series is called "The Lightning Thief". There are 5 books in the series. Have fun! :)

Is there a website that buys old paperback books?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under paperback books | 2 Comments »

I have a TON!! of paperback books. I don’t wait a book exchange because I don’t want anymore but I do want to get rid of them or sell them to someone that does want them. I am not good enough to use ebay or Amazon plus there is a lot competition on these sites to sell books. I want someone to buy my books and then do what ever they want with them. If there isn’t a website someone should start one because I bet they could make money.

You could donate them to a charity organization’s thrift shop (like Salvation Army, Discovery [American Cancer Society], or Goodwill.). Donation = tax write-off, rather than cash for your books.

Or, depending of condition of the books, you could donate them to your local library. The library may have a policy not to accept gift books, but it is worth asking.

    Hope this helps.
